Professionally, "Ki tusi duyaara likho'n ge?" if you want someone to rewriet something or "Ki tusi duyaara kaho'n ge?" if you want someone to say something again.

But in short you can say "phir kaho" to ask someone to say something again or "phir likhiyo" to ask someone to rewrite something.

Does anyone know why virtually all Canadian Punjabi newspapers use addak in the word tak in the meaning of until and making it into takk, which has entirely different meaning? On the other hand all dictionaries and books from India use tak invariably. Is there some authority on this whose pronouncement would be listened to? An e-mail to one newspaper pointing this out was totally ignored.

I know some of them:

1. Jithon dee Khottee (female donkey) Othay hee aaan khalotee.

Translation; "The female donkey has again reached the place from where it started journey"
Usage-> used when you are trying to convince some person who is not going to understand it anyway, and after your every try he/she is asking same question again and again.

2. Bhawn Jhaown Kay Khotee Bodh Thallay.
"AFter visiting many places female donkey has again come under pine tree".
Usage-> same as above, used in some other punjabi area.

3. Imam Polee Moray.
Imam-> name
Polee-> a caste, also called jolaha, in old times they used to waive clothes.
Moray-> Ahead of all
"Imam polee is always ahead of everybody"
Usage->When somebody of less importance, breaches the usual protocols and tries to go ahead of more important ppl.

4. Jumaa Janjay Naal
Jumaa -> name
Janj -> Wedding caravan.
"Jumaa is always along with wedding caravan"
Usage-> When somebody avoids the work, but always tries to enjoy its result".
Think it this way, Mr. Jumaa did nothing help during wedding,as you know in punjab villages wedding usually involoves alot of work, but Now he is more than ready to enjoy janj and eat food.

5. Dhatthaa Khotay ton, tay Kaudh Kubharaan Tay.
Dhatthaa -> Fallen
Khota -> Donkey
Kaudh (or Kaurr) -> anger
Kubhar (kumiar)-> caste who used to make pots and Wahnan(Wodden structure used on donkeys for riding).
"One is fallen from donkey but he is angry on Kumiar"

Usage->Used when someone is trying to make another scapegoat just for nothing.

6. Manwaan Sab deeyaan Sanjheean.
Mothers are common to all. your mother is my mother, mine is yours.

7. Pappoo yar tang naan ker
Mr. Pappoo dont irritate me.
When your friend is joking with you or irritaite you.

8. Jithay Jatt aiy othay Mat naheen, tay jithay mat aiy othay Jatt naheen
Mat-> wisdom.
"i wont translate , I am jatt "

9. Jatt Saaraay Eee Khotay, Per Chonwain Jatt Chanaan Day
"i wont translate again, i am jat of chanaan(chenab)."

10. Toon Lang jaa saadee Khair Aiy.
"You go ahead. Dont worry of me"
Usage -> When there is one thing and two candidates. One sacrifices it for other and says this.

11. Dadhai-aan Daa Sateen Wee Sao Hondaa Aiy.
"If strong ppl say seven as hundred. They are right."
Usage-> obvious "might is right"

12. Naikee ker Khoo wich sutt.
"Do good and through it in well."
Usage-> Do good and then forget it.
(Similar proverb in urdu is derived from this punjabi proverb)

13. Paneen Hamesh Neevain Passay Chardaa aiy.
"Water first goes towards shallow parts')
usage-> When some strong person gets angry on another strong person, first of all he starts scolding weak ppl for that,instead of real culpirt"

14. Majbooree Daa Naan Shukreeyaa.
"Other name of "being forced to do something" is thank you"
Usage->When somebody doesnot like to do anything but he is forced to do that, there is no way out. He starts saying that he has started doing this by choice. in english "grapes are sour"
But Punjabis in my area use this proverb as general purpose proverb.Whenever they feel they should say some proverb at any situation but they dont know the proper prover, they just say this one.

15. Hore Choopo
"Suck (sugarcane) more.
Usage-> When somebody takes some unnecessary panga and after that he feels himself in trouble. It is said in that occasion for him.
