Bains Sahib,

I should have known it was you who asked me to do my homework. I've seen your interest in Sikhi, Sufism, and Punjabi Virsa on many pages. Thank you for making me look for the answers.

I wrote that there is bani by living saints in guru granth sahib.you have worked hard to find it.very good and thank you for your interest.you have got and shown social scholarly love.next you need is the spiritual love. reading granth sahib alone does not get you anywhere. that is the problem with most sikhs.that is the reason why there is so much discontent.read it understand it and then do what it says.you will not need to find whose bani is there.but sur das, satta and balwand and some bhatt who wrote the svaaie of last gurus are the people whose bani is in granth sahib.s s a

sufiism and sikhism is the same.the sufis write rough language and sikh gurus write pious language.that is the only difference the message is the same.going to any saint of any so called religion is always good.all the spiritual saints love only their guru and God.they all write in their love. but going to the mazar of mehudin chisti or anyother saint is the same as going to gurdwara.you don't get anything there, unless your love and soul goes there. If pilgrimage was the godliness then all the haji and all other teerath goers will become godly.no it does not happen, because they carry their deeds and desires with.It is always nice to show respect for any spiritally learned person not a social scholar who show that they know everything.all they do is to read the books and explain to others.they can't explain it to themselves.money is the motive.all the kathakar are not saints but good orators. a spiritual person does not need to go to gurdwara and explain what he or she knows, nor she can explain.it is like sweet to a dum person. enjoy it.anyone who puts up a show generally is not godly.

Anonymous,

I have been to ajmer Sharif as well as to Baba Nizam Ud Din, Baba Mian Mir, and Baba Shah Hussein. My wish is to go to Baba Bulleh Shah, Baba Sultan Bahu, Baba Shah Inayat, and of course Baba Farid.

According to Sikhism, we are not supposed to prostrate at shrines. The idea was that people would begin to worship the tombs and the saints. I go to show my respect. But Sikhs in general never really listened to well to the Gurus if you look at history. Guru Gobind Singh Ji said that no one was to build a Gurdwara where he breathed his last. Of course there is a Gurdwara there. But then again Guru Gobind Singh told his Sikhs not to bow down to anything except the Guru Granth Sahib for it is the 'word' of God. One day while travelling with his troops Guru Gobind Singh passed by the shrine of a saint and while passing The Guru nodded his head ever so lightly in respect. His Sikhs caught him right there and asked "we thought you said not to bow down before anything except the Guru Granth Sahib, yet here you are doing what you forbade". He admitted he went against his own word and said he would accept any punishment the Khalsa deamed fit. They forgave him.

I have searched for the answer...

Guru Arjun Dev Was Alive from 1563-1606 A.D.
The Sri Guru Granth Sahib was compiled in 1604.

I couldn't find birth dates for Baba Ravidas (But he was alive during Baba Kabir's time so it can't be him), Baba Parmananda, Baba Sunder (Sadd), Baba Bhai Balwand (who composed a Var in collaboration with Baba Satta).

Baba Bhai Balwand and Baba Satta sang Kirtan in Guru Arjun's Darbar. Was it their Bani?

Baba Bhikhan passed away in 1573 but that was still before the compilation.

Baba Surdas was born in 1529 but I couldn't find the year he passed away. Was it his bani?

I couldn't find birthdates for the 11 Bhatts (Kalsahar, Jalap, Kirat, Bhika, Salh, Bhal, Nalh, Gayand, Mathura, Balh, Haribans) but I read that their Vars were already written before the compilation.

This is all the information I could come up with. If you aren't going to tell me, how about a hint?

From another page but more relevant here.

Shah Sahib,

thank you for sharing your info. I was appalled when I read that article so I started this thread.

Baba Shah Hussein was indeed a great poet. But his poetry was saintly. His poetry was taken to Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji while he was compiling the Adi Granth. The Guru didn't include the kafis for 2 possible reasons.

1) No person living the time of Guru Arjun Dev Ji was given the honor of their poetry being included.
2) "Birha" - The Separation from God when we are born... Baba Farid praised this separation when he said "Birha birha aakhiye birha toon sultan". The Gurus also never cursed the sepatation from God. Baba Shah Hussein lameneted his separation. "Mae Ni Main Kinu Akhan Dard Vichorre Da Ha". "Dard Vicchore da hal ni main kinu aakhan". etc etc and in Mae ni Main kinu aakhan he said, "Birha paya sade khyal ni main kinu aakhan".

That is what my understanding of this great saint is.

TO ALL WHO CARE:

this was a message accidentally sent by a muslim male to a young sikh woman working for a chemicals company. The sender thought he was contacting another
muslim.

If there is any Sikh, jew, christian, buddhist, hindu or even muslim who wants to expose these hateful islaim groups operating in Britain and in Europe generally, pass
this onto your friends, relatives, temples and churches----preserve your honour and freedom of conscience aganinst this self deceiving islamic evil.

I hope all good muslims will understand.

Hi dirt and jat jee
let us proceed further.
God or godliness is a mental issue,it does not have much to do with path or namaz.what path and koran tell you is ,
first how to recite God's name.then by reciting alone it does not become evident that you are a Godly person.if so all giani's and mullah's will be in the front row.but they are not.religions are just mere guidance. you have to do what you have to do. as shah anayat says.to put your mind there is the only way."mind only". rest is all show business.mind, love and humility are the main fators required to go further mentaly and spiritually.God is not anywhere else.He or she is in your mind and when you realize that factor, you become enlightened and eventually become part of God. for next time
