www.mypind.com will be able to give you the basics such as the population,size,nearest railway station etc.
However,because punjabi history has had an oral tradition rather than a written one,the only way to get the information you require is to sit and converse with your elders.Not only would they be delighted to tell you,but it will mean the continuation of our oral history telling tradition.

There is some site which gives you pretty good info about pinds/towns in Punjab, i think its called
Apna punjab, but ile check with my bro and let you know.
